New leaving party

A new friend is leaving to pursue his dreams in Paris. He is new to us but a very dear partner of my close friend.

The party was lovely – I’ve never been out to Boondall, north of Brisbane. Lots of new people that were lovely to meet, and gorgeous new curries, and dishes I’d never tried before. we were kind of feral from camping, so to be greeted with swimming pool, feast and a big fire was both charming and neccessary.

A lovely eve had by all.

Earth Mud

Oh the fun of making beautiful art – earth mud sculptures from Nature’s very own medium, in many colours – clay.

Bob Mud, taught us how to paint and fire, in a regular campfire, the finished pieces - making sculptures out of all kinds of clay and all colours.

Amazing what happens when one surrenders to their inner child that just wants to play with mud – it is so organic and natural, it is easy to get into the alpha zone and begin forming small creatures out of mud.

Looking at some of Bob’s creations, combined with newspaper – paper maiche, it is worthy of being in an art gallery – our ones however are better off perhaps in an outback, hick type of art gallery, where they will be appreciated in a more empathetic kind of way, on display.

Hands feel soft and amazing afterwards too – cosmetic for the hands, mind and soul.

Survival techniques

Today on our camping trip we experimented with making huts out of already twisted vines and leaves and fronds. It was amazing when you had eyes for it, how many twisted branches and vines actually naturally arched over in these ways to provide natural shelter. It only takes a little bit of hunting around for wide fronds and leaves to fill in the gaps and make it waterproof.

A beautful mountain cold swim today made for a whole-body-tingle sensation. you know the one when you are wading onto ridiculously freezing water, your feet and calves already have a headache. You can see kids swimming, who are not blue. So you wade in ever slowly in a torturous, cold creeping kinda way, feeling like it would be plain insane to dive one’s whole body under this liquid iceberg! However, there are witnesses now – and there is nothing sadder than watching someone walk away from a mountain river, ocean or other swimming hole, still dry. It’s just not right.

Ignoring the screaming ‘DON”T DO IT’ in my head, and it’s polar opposite ‘PUSSY!’ - I took the plunge. It catches your breath, but it is a heart starter and head numbing, but incredible.

So worth it

Fire starter

Amamoor forest – new flint, time to try it out for real … it was getting dark, and we arrived at camp just as the sun was kissing the high mountainous horizon, before the deep starry curtain was to be drawn over our camp.

We got essential! We became super efficient. Everything out of the 4×4, tent set up in lightening speed, kids and us bundled into warm cosy clothes and a wee sunset kick around for firewood, minding the snakes, down by the river. Yes, we were efficient. Even found tinder and the eldest got to be the fire-starter. Marshmallows packet safely snuck into tent pocket, ready to be tucked into for toasting time, after camp dinner.

We watched the sparks fly as two of us started preparing dinner and fusing with the new sounds of the camp, river, evening birds and insects. Aah, the sweet sound of Nature. The flash of sparks flying down toward the tinder, striking over and over again with the flint / magnesium fire starter. At last, a strike and glow of tinder, softly blow to get it enticed, growing ever bigger, wee spark, then flame! Ugh, ugh …Fire! When the children achieve one of the survive and thrive exercises they gain thrill points, and an extra tool for their thrive kits. The determination on thier faces and their never-give-up attitude gives us great delight as their confidence builds in these nature learning tasks.

How it makes a camp come to life! The glow on everyone’s faces. when the fire is lit – we have arrived. Now for the search for the ever evasive perfected toasted marshmallow.

Totally overhauled Computer

It’s one of those things I kept meaning to do, as the computer was slow running and was nearly up to memory capacity.

I bought a hard drive – backed the whole lot up (very eassy to do) then my IT guy wiped the whole computer and we only added back what was needed now.

Needlesss to say, the computer runs a lot better these days and I am asssured that everything is backed up, adn continues to be backed up. Again one of the “one Day’ things being a ‘Today’ thing.

No more excuses on the Bright New Day Project. Great motivator for all the procrastinating.

Bush Balm

Another of my absolute favourites to make and use. Actually it was so popular in my hometown, that the phrase “Don’t forget the bush balm” became a household thang as you ran out the door. Now new packaging adn new labels – let me know what you think.

More like an Everything Balm!

It is pure Alchemy the way these products become sso much more than a sum of their parts.

Gorgeous smelling creamy balm that the body instantly recognisess and drinks up. The beautiful thing is – is that it puts itself out of a job. Get’s in, heals, then isn’t needed anymore.

The house smells of manuka honey and kawakawa, with tones of lavender frankincense and myrhh – it is almost biblical … almost.

Any time there is a bite, scartch, graze, infected spot or sore, itchy skin, wound … we grab the bush balm and it INSTANTLY miraculously takes the ‘ouch’ or sting away firse – then heals in incredible haste.

I just have to put one tetimonial here from a woman at home that tried it on her son.

“My son fell and grazed the side of his face right by his eye. He started howling and it looked pretty bad. I cleaned it off and applied the bush balm and he immediately stopped crying. We knew it had pain relieving properties, but this was so instant it surprised me. The next day the graze was pink and after just 4 days you couldn’t even see where the wound was. I had resigned myself to seeing scars for the next few years at least. This really does have quite miraculous healing powers. Thank you so much. We always keep Bush Balm nearby”.

Echzema & dermatitis creme

All ingredients finally here and bottles look great!

This Echzema & Dermatitiss Creme was so popular when I was making it in potss in NZ, that I could barely keep up with demand. It sold itself and due to word of mouth, I had people contacting me from all around the World

The Purest springwater is Brazilian quartz  programmed with beautiful music and the alchemy began.

This is one of my all time favourite past times – creating like this in a beautiful space with my own formulations, ending in a potent practitioner strength product that not only pulls the echzema, dermatities or even mosquito sting out of the skin, but goes on healing under the deeper layers.

I started it all about 13 years ago when I had my own debilitating dermatitis on my legs – it was so agonisingly itchy and excrutiating at the same time. It was mainly in winter when I wasn’t in the sea and sun.

I tried everything, and all the doctors could recommend was awful steroid creams – hydrocortisone, which cleared it somewhat temporarily, only to have it pushed into my body, putting stress on my respiratory ssystem and giving sinus and asthma problems, not to mention it being 10 times worse on the skin.

After much study and doing a triple diploma over 8 years, I discovered my unique formula, not only 100% natural but made from the very forest on our property. My dermatitis and echzema healed after 3 days and has never come back on my legs. It actually pulled it out of my entire system. This is not too good to be true, just Nature’s potent healing powers at work again, adn a bit of magic thrown in!

If you want to try some come over to my new site Bright Earth Skincare

It is quite magical~*

banana flower curry

Wow, that was a sensation for the taste buds

We harvested 3 banana flowers (some say to enhance the trees growth) then looked up a banana flower curry recipe

I found this one and made this curry tonight, adding a few extra ingredients. You can add free range organic chicken, prawns, tofu, mushrooms and other things to bulk it out to a substantial meal

http://youtu.be/ahwE6yFnKsk

Here is the recipe … it was a little bitter but in a good way – I threw in a splash of fresh lemon, sprinkle of raw sugar and greek yoghurt which seemed to balance it beautifully. A dinner made with love, exploration and full of health and vitality. See this youtube link where she points out the health benefits, as if a party in my mouth wasn’t enough!

Banana Flower Curry

Serves : 3 Persons
Preparation Time : 30 mins
Cooking Time : 25 mins

Ingredients:
———–
 Banana Flower – 1
 Onion – 1
 Garlic – 3 pods
 Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp.
 Chilli Powder – 1 tsp.
 Coriander Powder – 1 Tbsp.
 Cumin Powder – 1 Tbsp.
 Coconut milk – 2 Tbsp.
 Oil – 2 Tbsp.

Method:
——
1. Prepare the Banana Flower : Remove the tough cover of the blossom and discard it. Remove, set aside and work on the undeveloped bananas layer by layer, until the inner pale and creamy-yellowish bud is revealed. Remove the hard stamen from the banana blossoms by chopping off the tops. If this is your first time cooking, Please use the plastic gloves to prevent the sap from sticking on to your hands or grease your hand with oil.

Chop the blossoms after removing tops and stamen. Soak it in the buttermilk and salt to prevent it from discoloring or Browning.

Caution: If it is not properly done, this dish will taste bitter.

2. Heat the oil in the pan.

3. Add chopped garlic and saute it for 1 min. or till it turns slightly brown in color.

4. Then add chopped onion and saute them well. Add a pinch of salt as it will speed up the process of cooking.

5. Discard the butter milk water and add the chopped banana flower and saute it for 10 to 13 mins. on medium heat until it is almost done.

6. Then add powder masalas one by one. (Turmeric powder, Chilli Powder, Cumin Powder & Coriander Powder). Saute until the masalas are well cooked. You can identify this when the raw smell disappears.

7. Then add enough water to the mixture and let it boil for 10 more mins.

8. Finally add coconut milk and let it boil for 5 more mins.

9. Garnish it with Coriander Leaves.

Tasty and Healthy Banana curry is ready to serve.

You can drink this as a soup, or serve it along with Rice or any Flat Bread.

Poultice from volcano

I have had the joy of removing skin cancers herbally and sometimes it need a little kick up the tail to get the last part out.

Tonight we made a poultice from volcanic ash, dead sea mud, white clay and aloe vera juice.

Mixed it all into a gorgeous paste, smeared it onto bamboo gauze and put it over my eye (where the spot is / was) Amazing drawing and healing properties.

I figured given the current climate of volcanic ash from the volcano in Chile, stopping flights around Australia and NZ, that I would stick with the spirit of Earth, as she is probably trying to tell me something, like volcanic ash would be the best medicine now – bit dramatic though, and sorry for all of those people we have put out due to our convo. It’s working a treat, and I am listening now!

Lemon Myrtle

New soap that is medicinal while you wash – smells divine and is antiseptic and perfectly natural, great for sensitve skin

Here’s a little info on lemon myrtle, our wonderful native herb

Lemon myrtle can best be described as a fragrant, sweet lemon, lime and lemongrass flavoured herb which can be used in recipes where every a lemon or citrus flavour is required. Lemon Myrtle is versatile enough that it works well in both savoury and sweet dishes.

Lemon myrtle is one of the well known bushfood flavours and is sometimes referred to as the “Queen of the lemon herbs”. The leaf is often used as dried flakes, or in the form of an encapsulated flavour essence for enhanced shelf-life. It has a range of uses, such as lemon myrtle flakes in shortbread; flavouring in pasta; whole leaf with baked fish; infused in macadamia or vegetable oils; and made into tea, including tea blends. It can also be used as a lemon flavour replacement in milk-based foods, such as cheesecake, lemon flavoured ice-cream and sorbet without the curdling problem associated with lemon fruit acidity.

I use it in skincare, lip balms and soaps ~ yummy. It is enlivening nad awakening first thing in the morning with that uplifting citrus flavour, great for after a yoga workout!

SeaWorld

Well we had VIP tickets to go to Seaworld so we thought we would check it out as they had just built Castaway Bay and there were some serious rollercoasters that needed conquering

Lovely to connect with the dolphins and seals. They seemed happy, well not really… trained. We sent them lots of love and light and thanked them for giving their lives to connect with humans that probably wouldn’t otherwise connect with them in the wild

We were spoilt in New Zealand, we used to go out to Great barrier Island where our friends had a houseboat. As we approached the magnificent island we would dive in the water of get on the jetskis for a zip around. The dolphins would ride the bow of the jetski! With such precision there was a lot of trust there as we always thought we might run them over. Then I’d dive off and into the deep blue with wild dolphins all around, playing and connecting, loving and entering the dream time with these pure, wise, enchanting dolphin family. It felt like the most natural thing in the world – pure trust and unconditional love with wild animals. Somehow, I always felt so healed after my dolphin time. I forget this is not something people get to do often or at all.

We sent blessings and connection to the Seaworld sacrificers. Had a ball and a really wet time on the battleships, log flume and roller coasters. Ended up running through the rain to get to the car for an hours drive home anyway. Exhausted, funned out and satisfied!

Motel of Mystery

Tonight we went to a previewing of a play – it was totally intriguing, disturbing, dark, beautiful and many other things. It was the first time someone has tried to fully express the Conscious mind in theatre. This of course made it surreal, and being an invited list of guests, we were one row of seats right up on the stage so one felt like we were apart of the Mind being portrayed

Afterwards we went to a lovely restaurant in West End called the Jam Jar – quite hidden away from the front door, and new, so it was a cosy little adventure out the back, really delicious unique food and enchanting company

New people, new realms of consciousness and a new cocktail at the Lychee to top it all off.

Documentary

See what it’s like to live in an inspired state constantly? I am always coming up with new ideas and this is my way of indulging, doing one new thang every day for a whole year (and maybe I’ll keep it up and set a new Bright record)

This has actually been a dream for some time, but as we know, when we take the first baby steps towards a dream, the Universe turns itself inside out to bring you synchronicities, opportunities, the right people seem to just *show up* in one’s life!

Yes we are doing a doco, that’s all I’m going to say at this stage but it is going to be a mind-altering, world-changing, paradigm-shifting, way-showing affair that will knock your socks off

Going through the logistics now and it feels fine. Of course, the crew just showed up, and band etc, anyway, shooshey! I’ve said too much already

Volcano Ash

Made the most divine face mask today that is 100% natural and organic / wildcrafted and smells like heaven

Apart from having the gorgeousness of pink clay and some white clay, which is strongly drawing out impurities but still doesn’t overdry your skin, better for the more, ahem, mature skin – I also put in goodies like allantoin which is the natural healant that you find in plants the likes of comfrey and plantain. There was some Dead Sea mud thrown in good measure. I used to live at the Kibbutz in Ein Gedi, Dead Sea, Israel. One of my jobs there was to smear black mud all over people, then letting them bake in the sun for a while, scrub it off then drive the train down to the Dead Sea for a quick float / soak. The World’s best dermatitis and Echzema cure … so much so that the Danish Government sent people afflicted by these skin conditions to the Dead Sea for healing and they would return bronzed, fit and with amazing skin!. Wow, there is one government really switched on in many ways to natural healing!

There is also rose, rose geranium and lime plus of course, real volcanic ash with potent healing properties.

It is so much fun, empowering nad inspirational to make your own totally natural skincare – it is one of my favourite past times, indulging in the alchemy of it all

I am going to look 20 years younger tomorrow

hovenia dulcis

Lookwhat I ate today! A Japanese or some say, Chinese raisin tree fruit.

Strange looking thing and tastes crunchy, a bit like feijoa and apple. Quite surprisingly pleasant

Refreshing taste in a small flower – to look at it though is like looking at a battlefield of trolls with no clothes on – not something a lady would normally feel inclined to put in her mouth – all in the name of adventure I say!

This Hovenia dulcis is a hardy decidous tree that is known for its edible flower stalks which swell up and I suppose they do taste a bit like raisins

Banana Loaf

It was easier than I thought – I oft buy banana bread if I’m out and about and getting a coffee anyway

It reminds me of when we used to bake my brother banana cake on Sundays and take it to him at boarding school.

Gluten free Banana loaf is easy to make and lasts for ages (you can slice up and put in the freezer), then its a handy food to have at the ready for friends visits, great for school lunches and something quick to grab on the run

Here’s the recipe – swap this flour for gluten-free flour if you wish …

Preparation Time – 15 minutes

 Cooking Time – 50 minutes

 Makes 1 loaf

 Ingredients (serves 10)

  • Melted butter, to grease
  • 265g (1 & 3/4 cups) self-raising flour
  • 40g (1/4 cup) plain flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 140g (2/3 cup, firmly packed) brown sugar
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) skim milk
  • 2 eggs, lightly whisked
  • 50g butter, melted, cooled
  • 2 overripe medium bananas, mashed
 Method
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Brush an 11 x 21cm (base measurement) loaf pan with melted butter to lightly grease. Line the base and 2 opposite sides with non-stick baking paper, allowing it to overhang.
  2. Sift the combined flours and cinnamon into a large bowl. Stir in the sugar and make a well in the centre. Place the milk, eggs, melted butter and banana in a medium bowl, and stir until well combined. Add the banana mixture to the flour mixture and stir until just combined. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Remove from oven and set aside in the pan for 5 minutes. Turn onto a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into slices to serve.

Notes

  • This banana bread will keep in an airtight container out of direct sunlight for up to 3 days. Alternatively, place in an airtight container, then label, date and freeze for up to 1 month. Place in the fridge overnight to thaw.* Feel free to add coconut, sliced macadamia nuts, agave or honey instead of sugar, gogi berries or some other superfood
  • Yummy – Enjoy

Natural Skin Cancer Removal

I’m running a little behind on my blog updates although I assure you they are humming in the backround here.

Like many of you I suppose, I have had a dubious little spot on my skin that looks like its been growing and changing over the months, then it gave me a little tingle, so I took the plunge and put a special little herbal blend on it, which – if it is cancer, it starts immediately working on it to draw it out, and if it is safe, it remains on top of the skin and does nothing

Well, this spot is the real macoy, and the drawing begins – it draws it out through the surface of the skin, bit achey but in a good way. I can feel it working its magic~*

Can check in 24 hours to see where we are at.

I am using burdock and plantain teas to help cleanse and heal and help the immune system deal with the neoplasm in its purifying powerful ways
